Concept

The aims with the 2006 car were twofold - to make best use of the school's new laser cutter facilities and to build a car which has little environmental impact by being as near carbon neutral as possible. Carbon released during the building and racing of the vehicle should have been offset by the carbon absorbed by the trees which have gone into its production.

Materials

Chassis and suspension - 1.5mm Birch Ply and laser-cut 3mm MDF.

Drive - Series standard Fracmo 24v electric motor driven by 2 x 12v car batteries, with motor controller. Single speed chain and sprocket drive.

Wheels - 20in BMX rims.

Brakes discs
