Race Report
The Essex heat was the first time that Franc N. had been through formal
scrutineering and the Essex scrutineers are known to be particularly rigorous.
After a discussion over what constitutes “a wheel” Franc N. received his sticker
and was allowed to race.
Following our motor
controller maladies the first extended run was always likely to reveal
problems and Franc spent a lot of time in the pits with electrical issues caused
by the new controller, however he did get out on circuit, ran only a few seconds off the top
pace and was running when the chequered flag dropped. We clocked up 27.5 miles
to come in a creditable 9th out of 14 entrants.
We were very pleased to be awarded the trophy for “Most innovative use of
materials”. Awarded by the scrutineers this was in recognition of our reuse of
recycled materials and effective use of non-conventional materials in building
the car.
