Fireblade visits the Festival of Speed

Leaving school at 5am usually means only one thing, a Greenpower race, however this time it was for something a little different. After Fireblade had done so well at the season opener Greenpower asked us if they could display it as part of their stand at the Goodwood Festival of Speed - in return for some complimentary tickets. So on Sunday 5th July the team went down to Goodwood for the day.

After we'd seen a few cars race up the hill and whilst we were looking at the Sunday Times supercar section we got a phone call to say that Emma wanted us for a photo call with Richard Noble, former Land Speed Record holder and builder of Thrust SSC so we all raced back to the Greenpower stand for Emma to tell us that she hadn't managed to sort it all out yet but it was decided that at lunch time we would come back to the stand to have a few photos with Richard. The next couple of hours were mainly spent in the F1 paddock section where British F1 drivers Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton where the main crowd draws. Then at 1 o'clock it was back to the Greenpower stand for our photo call with Richard Noble after a short chat and a few photos we all went back to the famous hill to watch the afternoon’s hillclimb where a huge range of cars such as McLarens, Zondas and Ferraris raced past us. The last remaining thing to do was to load Fireblade into the van and be on our way home. Everyone who went had a fantastic time and it will give us extra incentive to do really well this year so we can go back!
