Project X

Project X is an activity which all new recruits to the race team compete. The task is simple:

• Using a standard motor and 2 AA batteries produce an electric car which can travel 10m in the shortest time possible.

The project is a lot of fun and lots of the problems experienced with the "big car" can also be found (and overcome) in miniature on a project X car! (For the record, Mr. Barker currently heads the leaderboard with a time of 3.6 seconds - come on team!)

Primary Project X Masterclass

Over 6 weeks in the Spring term we hosted students from our 5 feeder primary schools to take part in their own Project X competition. The students built their own project X cars over a number of weeks with input from our own Greenpower students. The masterclasses culminated in a grand final with everyone racing their cars to get the fastest time and take home the magnificent Project X trophy. The final was extremely close with only 1.3 seconds covering the top 3 places.  Here are a few pictures from the final.
